Founder - Sri Ramanantha Swamigal

Sri Ramananthar born in Sengalipuram village and learned Hindu puranas, vedhas and other holy scriptures. After that he left his home and he visited and worshipped Senthamangalam Swamigal, Sirungeri peeda Swamigal and had a great yatra to Holy places like Kasi, Ketharnath, Badrinath, Nepal to worship the almighty power.
During this period he met one great sage "Padagu Swamigal" aged 120 years old in Kasi and received his "Maha Mantra Diskha".
He asked Sri Ramanthar to establish a temple in the name of "Dattar" in South India, Senglaipuram. As per his word sri Ramananthar came back to south india, his own place, Sengalipuram and celebrating "Sri Datta Jayanthi" in Ranganathar Temple, Sengalipuram. Sri Anantharama Dikshithar also asked him to establish Sri Dattar Temple there in Sengalipuram. During this period one day Sri Lord Dattatreyar appeared in his dream and instructed him to establish a temple under peepal tree near northern side of the pond named "pragaladhapushgarani". After that Sri Ramantha Swamigal decided and established a temple in the location instructed by Sri Lord Dattatreyar.

Sri Ramananthar Swamigal enshrined Sri Datta Padugai here in dattakudeeram temple, sengalipuram along with the following yantras,

• SRI DATTA YANTRA
• SRI KARTHAVEERYAJUNA YANTRA
• KUBERA YANTRA
The founder Sri Ramantha Swamigal transformed into "Jeeva Samadhi" (Soulful meditation) here in 1967. . Special Aradhana for Sri Ramanatha Swamigal usually celebrated every year in the month of "thai"(tamil month) on the day falls on dithi "Thrayodhasi". It's said that one who worship and circling the temple alongwith his Jeeva Samadhi shall be relieved from any mental illness. Also it's very special that the jeeva samadhi of (Soulful meditation) of Ramanantha Bhrummendra Swamigal is infront of Sri Lord dattatreyar here.
